Meet Your Greens: With Kim O’Rourke

“Talking Trash with Kim O’Rourke, Middletown’s Recycling Coordinator”
Trash costs are escalating. Landfill and incinerator capacity in the region is dwindling. With the closure of the Hartford waste facility more waste is being transported out of state for disposal.  Learn what the City is doing to help manage and reduce waste and control costs. Everyone generates trash and we all must be part of the solution!  Bring your questions, and suggestions, about trash, recycling and waste reduction and join this lively conversation!
Kim is the Recycling Coordinator for the City of Middletown. She has decades of experience managing the City’s waste programs, focusing on waste reduction efforts and expanding recycling opportunities. In 2021, Kim was the proud recipient of the Tom O’Dell Distinguished Service Award and most recently conducted the Refill, Not Landfill Coffee Cup Passport program funded through The Rockfall Foundation’s grant program.
