CANCELED- Spring Hike Around Bushy Hill Lake – Deep River, CT

The spring hike scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at the Bushy Hill Nature Center has been canceled due to the expected rain and wind coming into our area this weekend. However, due to Jen Malaguti’s busy spring and summer schedule with Bushy Hill, we will reschedule the hike sometime in the fall. I will inform everyone who signed up for the event when we have a rescheduled date set. We will also post on our website, e-news, and social media at that time.

Join Bushy Hill Nature Center’s Jen Malaguti on a spring hike around the Bushy Hill Lake at Incarnation Center. Learn about the flora and fauna found on this hidden 740-acre gem in Deep River.

The 3.5-mile hike will take you through the protected habitat of the endangered Atlantic White Cedar trees, across the earthen dam at the end of the lake, and through a glacial erratic up to the beautiful Lookout Point, overlooking the mile-long lake. This moderately difficult trail wraps around the north end of the lake to where the beaver lodge can easily be viewed. The hike will circle back to the beginning, but not before swinging by the Bushy Hill Farm where you can say a quick hello to the animals that will surely greet you by the fence.

Walking at a leisurely pace, the hike will take approximately 3 hours. Participants should have a water bottle and are encouraged to bring a light snack. Sneakers or hiking boots are recommended.

Please park in the dirt parking lot across from the Nature Center. As you enter the property at 253 Bushy Hill Rd, Deep River, drive past the Welcome Center and the small pond on your left.

The nature center will be the next building on your right.
