Announcing The Earth Day Every Day Action Grant

A New Action Grant Funding Projects That Directly Impact Earth’s Well Being

The Rockfall Foundation announces the establishment of the Earth Day Every Day action grant program. This program is offered in collaboration with cinder + salt, an eco-friendly clothing brand, and invites businesses, non-profit organizations, schools and municipalities to submit applications for environmental initiatives that will have a physical impact on the environment.

Funding for this action grant initiative has been provided by Rachel DeCavage, founder and owner of cinder + salt, through her participation in the  1% for the Planet program. In this nationally recognized group, members donate 1% of their sales back to the community to help tackle the planet’s most pressing environmental issues.

“I wanted to create an opportunity for people to take real action, to make a difference in the world and protect our planet,” said Rachel DeCavage. “The money from this grant would go toward something that has an immediate physical impact, whether picking up litter or planting more trees. The grant money would pay for anything that would help make those ideas a reality.”

Human induced climate change continues to threaten the finite resources of our planet. The Earth Day Every Day Action Grant will be eligible for projects that actively focus on preservation, conservation, and restoration of the natural environment in the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

Projects must take place in or include one or more of the focus towns: Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Middlefield, Middletown, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, or Westbrook. Applications may be considered that focus on the Connecticut River corridor or Long Island Sound as long as there is a demonstrated impact in at least one of the focus towns. Nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, or businesses are welcome to apply. Individuals seeking to apply must coordinate with an eligible entity. That entity must submit the application.

Applications and all required documents must be received electronically via email by noon on June 15, 2022, at grants@rockfallfoundation.org. Applications received after the noon deadline, incomplete applications, and paper applications will not be considered. Grant awards will be announced at the end of July, with funds available in early August.
