Board member responsibilities:
- Be a current contributing member of The Rockfall Foundation.
- Serve on at least one committee, eg. Governance, Finance, House, Program, Development, Grants, and Awards & Scholarship. All committees are chaired by Rockfall Board members.
- Maintain a personal commitment to Rockfall’s mission and lead by example: set the standard for environmental stewardship. Be knowledgeable about Rockfall’s policies, programs and services.
- Attend Board meetings in person. The Board meets approximately 10 times per year. Review Board meeting materials prior to meeting. Be prepared to contribute to discussions and decisions.
- Between meetings, respond to Rockfall communications and provide input as requested.
- Be actively engaged in Rockfall’s programming: attending or offering support with at least 25% of Rockfall’s events.
Attend Rockfall’s Annual Meeting during the Grants and Awards Celebration. - Recommend nominees to the Board who can make significant contributions to the work of The Rockfall Foundation and will fill the current needs to ensure the Board maintains a healthy balance of diversity and personal/professional expertise.
- Proactively contribute to the financial health of Rockfall by promoting fundraisers, soliciting raffle items, and encouraging friends, family, and connected businesses to donate. Contribute to the growth of Rockfall by actively cultivating new members (goal of 3 per year).
- Follow conflict‐of‐interest and confidentiality policies.
The Rockfall Board consists of 10-15 elected voting members. The AdHoc Nominating Committee is tasked with populating the Board and ensuring that it reflects our membership and supports our mission. Board members may serve three consecutive 3‐year terms, however, sometimes there is a need to fill a shorter term.
