RTPEC Bird Ecology in the CT River Estuary Program

In partnership with Connecticut Audubon Society’s Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center, students in the environmental field biology class will learn about the importance of the CT River Estuary as a habitat for birds, why birds are indicator species, and birding skills. Students will conduct a habitat comparison study, collect data using on-campus sites as well as off-site at Hammonasset State Beach. Students will also investigate how human impact can affect bird populations and habitat. Grant amount: $1,500
