Rockfall Foundation Receives 2025 Melvin Woody Conservation Award

The Rockfall Foundation is honored to receive the 2025 Melvin Woody Lower Connecticut River Conservation Award, presented by the Lower Connecticut River Land Trust (LCRLT).

This recognition reflects the shared commitment across our region to protect, preserve, and enhance the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

A Legacy of Conservation Leadership

The award is named in honor of Melvin Woody, a dedicated conservation leader whose impact has shaped the region for decades. A longtime member of the Connecticut River Gateway Commission—including many years as Chair—Woody helped guide efforts to protect more than 1,000 acres within the Gateway Conservation Zone. His leadership also played a key role in transforming the Lower Connecticut River Land Trust Exchange (LTE) into the robust, collaborative organization that exists today.

The Lower Connecticut River Land Trust supports the conservation needs of 17 communities and land trusts throughout the region, strengthening partnerships and advancing environmental stewardship across the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

Recognizing Regional Impact

The LCRLT Board enthusiastically selected The Rockfall Foundation for this award, citing our longstanding commitment to conservation and our continued efforts to serve the communities of the Lower Connecticut River region.

From supporting environmental education programs and community initiatives to advancing conservation efforts that protect our natural landscapes, this recognition highlights the importance of collective action and local leadership in preserving the natural spaces around us.

We are grateful to the Lower Connecticut River Land Trust for this honor and proud to stand alongside so many dedicated partners working to protect our region’s natural resources.
