SUMMARY:Meet Your Greens with Andy Bauer
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nConcentric Brewery\n91 Main Street\, Portland\, CT\nAndy Bauer is the Chair of the Portland Clean Energy Task Force and has been advocating for renewable energy for over two decades. Initially a proponent of renewables due to climate change and air quality concerns\, he was thrilled to see his utility bills plummet after implementing energy-efficiency and solar at his home. \nAndy will summarize the potential impacts on CT’s energy landscape from data centers\, natural gas pipeline expansion\, and renewable energy investment. Andy will also speak on a wide range of energy topics\, from his energy-efficient home to last year’s Public Benefits Charge controversy. \nAdmission is free for all attendees. Registration is preferred\, but not required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”REGISTER HERE” color=”danger” css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLScAjRs4j9HZyRoIZfcJz55O-EjqcKPtR2sgvkmaodi9nrikQQ%2Fviewform%3Fusp%3Dpublish-editor|title:Meet%20Your%20Greens%20-%20Andy%20Bauer”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Rockfall Environmental Book Club
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1763567868821{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]The Rockfall Environmental Book Club meets every other month at the historic deKoven House in Middletown to read and talk about books on nature\, climate\, ecology\, and sustainability. It’s a chance to learn together\, share ideas\, and connect with others who care about the environment. All are welcome—no RSVP required\, and don’t worry if you haven’t finished the book. Just bring your curiosity and join the conversation. \nOur next meeting will take place on Tuesday\, January 20 at 6 pm at the deKoven House (27 Washington Street\, Middletown). We’ll be discussing The Overstory  by Richard Powers. \n\n\n\n\nThe Overstory\, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction\, is a sweeping\, impassioned work of activism and resistance that is also a stunning evocation of—and paean to—the natural world. From the roots to the crown and back to the seeds\, Richard Powers’s twelfth novel unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fables that range from antebellum New York to the late twentieth-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. There is a world alongside ours—vast\, slow\, interconnected\, resourceful\, magnificently inventive\, and almost invisible to us. This is the story of a handful of people who learn how to see that world and who are drawn up into its unfolding catastrophe. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“It changed how I thought about the Earth and our place in it…. It changed how I see things and that’s always\, for me\, a mark of a book worth reading.” ― Barack Obama \n“This book is beyond special.… It’s a kind of breakthrough in the ways we think about and understand the world around us\, at a moment when that is desperately needed.” ― Bill McKibben \n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”18545″ img_size=”494×750″ alignment=”center” css=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]
