DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1736367708756{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Russell Library\n123 Broad Street\nMiddletown\, CT 06457 \nThe Elements: An Environmental Film Series\,  launched in 2015\, is presented by the Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District\, The Rockfall Foundation\, Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts and College of the Environment\, Middletown Garden Club\, and the Russel Library. Multiple screenings occur throughout the academic year\, alternating locations between Wesleyan University and Russel Library. Events are always open to the public and free of charge. \nFilm Screening: Farming While Black \nFarming While Black is a feature-length documentary film which examines the historical plight of Black farmers in the United States and the rising generation reclaiming their rightful ownership to land and reconnecting with their ancestral roots. \nAs the co-founder of Soul Fire Farm in upstate New York\, Leah Penniman finds strength in the deep historical knowledge of African agrarian agricultural practices that can heal people and the planet. Influenced and inspired by Karen Washington\, a pioneer in urban community gardens in New York City\, and fellow farmer and organizer Blain Snipstal\, Leah galvanizes around farming as the basis of revolutionary justice. \nThe film screening on February 1\, at 2 PM\, is open to the public and free of charge.
