She will introduce us to the different types of lichens growing at Indian Hill Cemetery\, and will tell us about the ecology of lichens here and around the world. The walk will be very slow-moving\, and we will be stopping a lot to observe these miniature wonders. \n**This event is weather permitting\, rain cancels**\n\n\n\n\n  \nAbout Natalie: As an educator at George Mason University\, Natalie is interested in engaging students with the world outside\, especially with plants and fungi. She also works as an Agriculturist at the USDA\, where she helps ensure that the fresh food plants we trade with other countries do not carry pests or diseases that could harm farms. Kristy Benson-Amarante is a self-taught herbalist and farmer who has been making over 60 kinds of teas for many years. Bittersweet Farm hosts the Higganum Farmers Market\, teaches classes all over the state and enjoys helping people find the perfect blend of tea for either medicinal purposes or for sheer beverage enjoyment.  \nThis workshop collaborates with Healthy PlanEat. The Giving Garden operates purely with volunteers and donates 100% of its produce to those in need\, from soup kitchens to area senior centers. Jen\, along with other garden leaders\, will discuss the creation of the garden\, as well as composting\, bee hives\, the perennial flower pollinator patch\, organic growing methods\, and more! The Giving Garden is located behind the Middlefield Community Center\, 405 Main Street\, in Middlefield. \n**This event is weather permitting\, rain cancels** \nWe will meet at The Giving Garden at 405 Main Street\, Middlefield. Plan to arrive at 5:30\, with the speaker beginning at 5:45. The Rockfall Foundation will provide pizza and beverages. You are also welcome and encouraged to bring your own food & drink.
