SUMMARY:National Trails Day Hike: Bluff Head Preserve\, Guilford
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text margin_bottom=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1778699516361{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\nAbout our Hike:\nOur hike will begin at the parking lot on route 77. From there\, we will take the gradual blue-blazed trail up to the cliffs and follow the ridgeline to our viewpoint\, the highest point in Guilford. The view includes the Broomstick Ledges and other properties on the east side of Route 77 protected by the Guilford Land Conservation Trust. \nOnce at the top\, we can enjoy the view for 15-20 minutes before heading back down the same trail we came up. The total distance will be about 1.7 miles round trip. Although relatively short distance\, this hike has a couple steep areas. \nAbout the Trail:\nBluff Head and its adjacent areas\, rising to more than 720 feet above sea level\, are the highest points in Guilford\, The Bluff Head overlook offers unparalleled views to the east\, north (to Hartford) and south (to Long Island). Immediately under the cliffs is Meyerhuber Pond. \nWhat to Bring:\n\nWear hiking shoes with excellent grip – this trail is rocky and steep in some places\nWater bottle\nTick/Insect repellent\,\nHiking poles are recommended\n\nFor more information about the trails at Bluff Head Preserve\, click here. \nMore Hike Details:\n\nRoute type: Out and back\nDifficulty Level: Moderate (rocky and steep in some spots). This hike is not suitable for young children.\nParking: Gravel parking lot on Route 77\nMeeting Place: Parking lot on Route 77. Look for a black Toyota Corolla Cross.\nMeeting Time: Please arrive at 9:45 AM. We will hike out promptly at 10:00 AM.\nWeather: Steady rain will cancel the event. No rain date.
